Carrickmacross Lace - Nellie O.Cleirigh

Carrickmacross lace was originally inspired by some Italian applique lace bought to the vicarage of Donaghmoyne, a small village north-east of Carrickmacross in County Monaghan.

Made by applying organza to a machine made net and embroidering the pattern onto the organza.  Parts of the organza are then cut away and the remaining net filled with more stitches.
