I started lacemaking in 1985 with Valerie Holmes whilst still working as a Police Officer in Southend. After a few years of tuition, I began teaching a small class of children at my son's junior school and after Mainly Lace was started I began teaching at Moulsham Mill.
I then completed my City and Guilds Diploma and became an Outside Veryfyer for the "Guild" continuing with this until most of the centres stopped the lacemaking course. It was then that Mainly Lace set up as an independent centre.
